They say never to work with children and animal and that's for a good reason. They are known for being temperamental and hard to control. Because of this, many hairdressers feel nervous when it comes to cutting kids hair. Without the right chair, it can make the cutting process harder than it should be, as getting the right angles can be tough. So, having at least one kid's chair or booster seat is recommended to make the service easier.
Prevent Injury by Adding a Kids Seat
Not only is it dangerous when you can't properly see, but it can be bad for your back too. Since kids will often sit lower in the chair as they don't have the same height as you are used to, back injuries can occur. If you don't have a salon chair that extends, we would suggest getting a chair dedicated to kids. However, if you have previous purchased a high-quality salon chair, you will be able to just add a booster. This will just help to bring the child over the back of the rest, making the process simple.
Make the Experience Fun!
We're not going to lie, even with a good chair, cutting a child's hair is tough. They are either scared or just want to play and it can be difficult to get them to stay still. So rather than getting cross at them, try to make the experience fun! You can do this by playing a game, giving them a choice in the haircut, or have some activities on hand for them to play with! If none of that works, consider asking the parent to allow them some screen time to sit still. Having lollipops on hand never hurt either!
